The Concept: Trompe-l'œil and Anamorphosis

Opened in April 2012 by Korean visionary Shin Jae Yeoul, the museum was built with an investment of over 50 million Baht. It utilizes an ancient painting technique known as Trompe-l'œil (French for "deceive the eye") and Anamorphosis. These techniques manipulate perspective, turning flat, two-dimensional walls and floors into spectacular three-dimensional optical illusions. With over 150 incredibly realistic murals, visitors can balance over perilous waterfalls, fly on magic carpets, or run from a T-Rex.

Art in Paradise has recently upgraded its experience by introducing an Augmented Reality (AR) mobile application. By downloading the free museum app on your smartphone and pointing your camera at specific paintings, the artworks literally come alive with animations and sound effects. Insider Tips for the Best Experience

• Look for the Floor Stickers: To get the perfect 3D effect, the camera must be placed at an exact angle. The museum has placed helpful arrow stickers on the floor—stand exactly on the sticker to snap the photo!
• Shoes Off Policy: To protect the intricate floor paintings, shoes are strictly prohibited inside the galleries. You will be asked to leave your shoes at the entrance or carry them in a provided dust bag. We highly recommend wearing comfortable socks!
• Bring a Tripod: If you are traveling as a couple or a family and want everyone in the shot, a small tripod or smartphone gimbal is incredibly helpful.
• Beat the Crowds: The museum is highly popular with tour groups. To get the best photos without waiting in line for each mural, try to visit right when they open at 9:00 AM, or later in the evening.
